STAFF APPRECIATION
The Lucille Raines Board members recognize and say “thank you” to the staff at a spring meeting luncheon. They receive a small gift and a meal fixed by board members. This is just a small way for us to thank the staff for all they do every day. We remember the mural painted by Enid Young in the dining room, “You never walk alone.” Our staff is there 24/7 so residents always have a willing listener when they need someone to talk with.
RAINES FEST/TAKEOVER
The Raines board members “take over” the duties at the front desk of the residence and work the hours from 3:00 p.m. on Monday (after the October board meeting) until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday of that week. Carolyn Marshall, executive director, treats the staff to a nice dinner and then they have some paid time off. During this time the board offers meals, games and a country store for the residents. They are given play money and can earn more money playing games. Board members and local UMW women donate items for the residents to purchase. Like new clothing, food items, decorations, and misc. including items for children are all things the residents like to purchase for themselves and as gifts. This is an opportunity for them to purchase Christmas gifts for family and friends. Many also appreciate the single serve, microwavable foods as they prepare their own meals.
This is a fun time for the Board members as well as the residents as we get to know one another.
